I’m Better Than You?

In the years since I started my web business and my newsletter, membership sites, etc. I have exchanged
emails with many people who seem to be frustrated.

Many think I have some magical abilities because of my online successes. They think I’m “better” some how.

Then I tell them a bit about my past and my present.  So let me tell you now, too. Maybe after you finish, you’ll really understand that anyone can do this…

Let’s talk financial…

As recently as four years ago, I was so deep in debt that I came very close to bankruptcy. In fact, the ONLY reason I didn’t file was because I did not have the $938.00 fee for my attorney. If I did, I would have filed.

Since then, I have had a mountain of education in the “fine art” of balancing a checkbook, paying off debts
and spending wisely.

And thanks to my on line business, I am not only debt free - but have been in the black for the past two years. And…my wife and I are going on our very first cruise this coming January (can’t wait for that!).

Another revelation for you…

All of my on line success (until recently) has been PART TIME. I had a full time J-O-B and worked on my business at night.  For about 4 years I averaged just four hours of sleep per night. Here was my typical day:

- 4:30 AM, wake up
- shower
- breakfast/newspaper
- 5:15 am, emails, misc. stuff on business
- 6:15 am, go to work
- 4:30 pm, home from work - check emails
- 5:00 pm, family time
- 6:00 pm, dinner
- 6:30 to 8:00 pm, work on sites
- 8:00 to 8:45 pm, play with son and put to bed
- 9:00 pm to midnight, work on business
- Midnight, go to bed

That was it for four years. Lots of work and commitment.

Of course, there is a lot of things I did, people I met and so on that have helped me along the way. We call
that networking.

But I hear the same excuses all the time…

“I don’t have the time”
“I don’t have the money”
“I don’t have any talents”
“I can’t even write a newsletter”

Time - look, we all are given the same amount of time every day. 24 hours to be exact. So you DO have the
time.  What it comes down to is how you choose to spend your time.

I recently met a woman who has a very successful on line business. She also has six children…and all are
home schooled. Tell me you’re busier than she is…

Me - I still get ample family time too. I simply choose to work on my business over, say, watching television.

Money. You don’t need a lot to start with. I started five figures in debt. I made many friends and traded my time for products, services, etc. The barter system is alive and kicking on the internet.

Talent? There are many people having success on line that lack certain talents. They simply find their own
strengths and work with it. My biggest strength is networking.

Let’s talk about the last one…writing.  It’s not one of my strengths either. I can do it, and I even enjoy it most of the time. But I struggle with it at times. For those times, I have a “secret” resource I have been using for over a year now:

These guys publish a private label newsletter every week that you can use as your own. I tend to use it when I am stuck for an idea, or simply in a rush. It’s good quality too.

My point is there are ways to make your on line business flourish even if you are pressed for time or ideas.

I have another “secret” resource I have been using for over a year for a steady fresh supply of products. But I’m going to save that for next time ;)

Bottom line - I am NOT any better than you. I made it work because of commitment and resources. You can do it too once you decide to. Even if you are working full time.

So I asked them what sort of information they wanted to learn. What style of learning they preferred and how they wanted this information to be delivered. I was totally blown away by the responses - I got 1489 people completing the survey!

Q. So what did they say?

A. There some big common themes that kept coming up as I looked at the responses and all the comments. These were that people want something that is STEP BY STEP, something that is AFFORDABALE and something that takes you right FROM BEGINNING and doesn’t leave anything out. You can get really frustrated when you start investing in products that claim to make you money online only to find that leave out a massive piece of the jigsaw. Do You Twitter?

It’s all the rage right now.

Twittering is hot and if you’re not doing it, you’re being left behind. It’s one of the newest social media sites to hit the scene in recent memory and it’s incredibly simple to use.

There’s even a Windows application that works with Twitter called Twhirl. With this little program you can twitter without actually visiting Twitter itself.

Twitter also allows you to post via your cell phone, as well as receive “tweets” when they come in.

Finally, this is a 100% free site, but you can bet that the unenlightened people will try to spam. This you can easily remedy by UNfollowing the offenders. You will only see posts from those you follow…

Announcing your sites, or things like that are typically fine, but use your discretion. If you start to see a number of your followers diminishing, that’s a sign they don’t like your tweets.

Hey Mikey! He Likes It!

I couldn’t resist that title. If you are too young to remember, that’s “borrowed” from the Life Cereal commercial from back in the 70’s.

But I have my own reason for using it.

This past weekend I went to Frank Kerns Mass Control Workshop in San Diego, CA. I have to tell you - it was fantastic. Took a ton of notes (I have so much to do…).

But while I was there, I happened to run in to Dr. Mike Woo-Ming. Dr. Mike is a cool guy. We met in 2005 at a seminar. He also contributed a product to my very first firesale. And even though we have traded an occasional email since then, that was the last time I saw him.

So imagine my surprise when he told me he really liked the look of my blog (this site). He loves the template I am using (called Revolution News). In fact, he said it inspired him to revamp his own blog (sort of…).

Funny thing is, I never imagined he would have reason to visit my blog. That goes to show a couple of things…

Even the guru’s keep up with what’s going on out on the net.

Even a regular guy like myself can “inspire” a well-known and highly successful marketer.

The power of going to events and introducing yourself to people.

Anyway, I know to some of you this ain’t no big deal. But to me it is. It says to me that just maybe I’m on the right track.

Keep on keeping on.

Effective Strategies for Success in Home Business

The first move in any game is the toughest, and you have made that move - right? Starting a home-based business is probably the wisest of all moves, in this decade or at least this year. An environment where you can fully immerse yourself in your business and guard yourself from the inevitable interruptions you will experience while working from home. Here is where you will create the core of the reactor-your business energy nucleus, from where all your dreams, vision and ingredients interact to produce the results.

Realistic automation: This is the modern internet age, and one should take advantage of the conveniences provided by small and simple to operate automated gadgetry… there are a number of them. Printers, fax machines, copiers, and scanners are now available in four-in-one versions, and usable with computers and telephone lines. Small home-based businesses naturally have to be frugal on expenses and here is the opportunity to use this equipment which is relatively inexpensive but very versatile and useful.

Connectivity: Build up the contacts and develop the business circle using the power of the Internet with easy to implement, network marketing tools. Going to off-line events is one way to meet many like-minded internet savvy people all at once (bring plenty of business cards).     Four Good Reasons to Use Viral E-books

    It is a well known and widely accepted fact, that E-books…FREE E-books…are one of the best weapons in a viral marketing campaign arsenal. Internet Marketers have been doing this successfully for quite some time. In fact, some have built successful businesses gving away free viral products.

    Here are four good reasons why this is true today and will continue to be true for the foreseeable future:

    1. E-books are cheap to produce and don’t take long to set up. If you have articles that you have already written about the subject you are promoting, you can simply combine these articles into an E-book.
